Weekly Summary 14:

One of our headlines in the AI takeover final project is “AI-Powered Healthcare Innovations Transform Patient Care”. On Tuesday evening, I created a poster of nurse robots in a hospital and wrote about it https://gretahammen.com/ds106/progress-report-fp/.

Each of us in the group contributed by individually making videos and posters that would fit together like a puzzle at the end. We communicated on Discord and after completing any steps, we updated the Google doc for our final project.

So far, it has been the most responsible group at UMW, that I have been in. My memory is strong and I will always remember this experience.

AI For Our Future

My video project is of Grant, an AI image generator of a man talking straight into a camera. I uploaded this image onto studio.d-id.com and gave him a profile with name and a pdf of text that he might say, if asked questions. Then, I was able to create the video on that site with my text and the lip syncing is done with the click of a button. Tonight, I added music and text. I am happy with the results!

I originally worked on a video titled, Frank talks AI, FranktalksAI.mp4.3gp. I spent approximately 5 hours on the process of the video during this week. I downloaded it from House I Live In, The : Ross (Frank) Productions, Ltd. : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive, then I uploaded it to YouTube, I thought that I should do it that way, but there are other ways of doing it. I imported it into Premiere Pro, cutting it down to a minute. I created the audio on AI Voice Generator & Text to Speech | ElevenLabs. Then, I did the Wav2Lip process four times. I got the green checks on the left for the uploads, but the syncing was unsuccessful and did not output a video.

The lesson learned here, is that on occasion, even with considerable troubleshooting, sometimes you have to create a new plan and proceed.

DS106 Rad.io Shows:

I have listened to four radio shows so far. Everyone has been creative and applied themselves to it fully. I will focus on the show, Pop Perception, for this post. Each character took turns in having a script and they analyzed the marvels of AI in pop culture. They approve of the blend of art and science. J.A.R.V.I.S. (Just a Rather Very Intelligent System) is the witty AI, cornerstone in the Marvel Universe and he is the assistant to Tony Stark, Ironman. Mr. Stark is a technology genius and billionaire. Humans believe that if we create something, we should be able to control it. We haven’t seen the true consequences of AI power yet. In the first Avenger movie, they use Jarvis as a tool, not a crutch. Jarvis was created by Tony Stark for times of battle.

The music throughout the talk show was upbeat and made the listening experience more enjoyable. Exceptional tie-in commercials added to the final project, especially the one for Timesaver AI, who helps in prioritizing tasks and is a productivity partner. Another point to make is that the volume quality was quite successful in this talk show.

Weekly Summary 10

The Daily Creates are really the grounding task each week. They are enjoyable to do, and I look forward to reading the prompt of the assignment. Daily Create 1 of 2, Wk 10 – According to Greta (gretahammen.com) and Artistic Adventures D.C. dos, Wk 10 – According to Greta (gretahammen.com). I made both a pastel project and a primary color one.

The bulk of the time for schoolwork was focused on the radio talk show and organizing our text and thoughts within the program. We completed it Friday afternoon at The Airwaves are Alive, Wk 2 of it: – According to Greta (gretahammen.com). I shared my thoughts on Radio Show Design – My blog (andrewpoon.org), Daily Create – 3/24/2024 – Creative Bytes: Exploring the World of DS106 (rishicshankards106.com). Sharing comments on others work is enjoyable and takes the focus off of me, Logic Pod Advertisement Bumper – Mustafa’s Thoughts (mosmani.com) Bumper Sticker – Melea Lineberry.

The Airwaves are Alive, Wk 2 of it:

I spent time this week creating dialogue between my character, Natasha Sidorov, and Dr. Ravioli. The group agreed that text to voice generation would be best, due to the varied schedules. We created short MP3’s on www.elevenlabs.com and uploaded them on SoundCloud. Sarah Bradshaw volunteered to start getting them together in Audacity, Destiny had some time on Wednesday and Friday, during the day, to contribute to that and on Thursday, I assembled four clips to make the ending of the talk show, using Premiere Pro https://on.soundcloud.com/wHc7wmsgVqnEWPGa7 and Marisol recorded her character’s parts and sent them to SoundCloud, as well. I recorded six MP3’s during the week and saved them on Soundcloud. The final full show can be enjoyed here:

The group was easy to work with and we were able to create a talk show with our characters interacting in various ways with Dr. Ravioli. It is my hope that in one of my other classes, next semester, I get the opportunity to use the Podcast equipment on campus. I believe that being together on location and reading our parts with good quality microphones will be a unique experience with minimal editing to clean it up, for a polished recording. It was best however, on this project, to do individual segments and then combine them later.

Artistic Adventures AI:

Weird vegetables can be found documented at Codex Seraphinianus. In Adobe Firefly, I tried several text prompts before ending with this AI generated combination of turban squash with tomatoes and peas inside. https://social.ds106.us/@gretahammen/112159581710667386. The colors are vibrant and striking! The green vegetable or fruit first, looked like a small watermelon, but it was not pink inside. I stopped at Giant on my way home from work to look in produce and it resembles a turban squash.
